Madonna da Vinci

Years ago, I stretched and primed an 80 × 100 cm canvas just to have something ready, with no subject in mind. It leaned against the studio wall, migrating steadily backward as newer, more urgent projects claimed the front row. I half‑forgot it existed.

Anyone who knows me knows that Leonardo da Vinci has long been my guiding star. During a 2024 trip to his birthplace, Vinci, I wandered into the Chiesa Santa Croce, where a multimedia exhibition traced his genius. In a dim side chapel I noticed a neglected fresco—its pigments flaking, its plaster scarred by centuries. Even in ruin it radiated a quiet grandeur that pinned me to the spot.

Days ago, well past midnight, I jolted awake with an image so clear it felt projected on the inside of my eyelids: that fractured mural reborn on my long‑ignored canvas. The concept arrived whole, title and all—The Madonna of Vinci. I switched on the studio light, dragged the dusty frame back into view, and sketched until dawn. At last, the blank surface has a destiny, and the journey to bring it to life has begun.

Fallen

This painting is a project I began as a sketch in 2022, but then set aside for two years. In 2024, I returned to it and designed the hand. Now in 2025, I painted the background in alizarin crimson. The inspiration for this color came from my travels through Italy, where I fell in love with Caravaggio.

Embrace

One of my rare paintings inspired by Argentine tango—it's not a theme I usually explore by colors. But this piece came to life after an intoxicating evening, when I had a brief yet captivating encounter with a mysterious dancer. Not finished yet.

Sterna paradisaea

Actually, I work on several painting projects.

The project Sterna paradisaea is inspired by an experience I had in 2022 while cycling through Scandinavia. Sterna paradisaea is the scientific name for one of the most amazing birds on Earth, the Arctic tern. These birds have a circumpolar breeding distribution. Arctic terns undertake the longest known migration in the animal kingdom, from the Arctic to the Antarctic and back, 40,000 to 70,000 km per year. I found one of the birds dead, seemingly just fallen from the sky, on a wild beach in northern Denmark. The beauty of the bird was so intense that I couldn't stop crying with grief and gratitude at the same time.

The painting technique of triangulation stands as a metaphor for the transience and fragmentation of memory, as well as for the increasing alienation with which nature is perceived.

Asami

The project Asami in the onion field is inspired by the japanese movie The Young Strangers, a production from Uchiyama Takuya with my favorite japanese actress Reika Kirishima.

The story: Kazama Ayato is a young man who works day and night while paying off the debt of his deceased father and caring for his mother, Asami, who suffers from an incurable disease. His younger brother, Sohei, was also responsible for repaying debts and caring for his family while practicing martial arts every day and started following in his father's footsteps.

Despite being devoured by a stifling life, Ayato wants to find a small happiness with his lover, Hinata. However, on the night of the banquet celebrating the marriage of Ayato's best friend, Yamato, their modest daily life is taken away by unexpected violence.

The film is scheduled to be released in November 2024 in Europe.
